About Me

I’m Sofie Hope and I create my art in the beautiful City of Bath, where I live with my husband, son, and cat by the River Avon. I continually learn from the plants, insects, and animals around me, and it is these subjects that inspire my work.

As a qualified biology teacher, I have always been in wonder of the natural world and so I began capturing this in drawings and paintings of plants and insects. I continue to accept commissions for nature-based subjects and gain such joy from creating something detailed, beautiful, and jewel-like for my customers.

Over the past three years, I have received an increasing number of commissions for pets, namely dogs. Growing up with dogs and cats being a part of our family, it has been such a delight to add this to my portfolio. I get great satisfaction from capturing a beloved pet’s character in my work, and from seeing the owner’s happy reaction.

To create my pieces, I use a variety of mediums, namely graphite, acrylic, charcoal, pastel, oil-based colour pencils, and ink. Each drawing or painting is lovingly created with great attention to detail, and focuses on the subject’s character – yes, even plants have their own unique character! My ability to capture the soul of a subject in delicate detail is what makes my work stand out. Colour plays a pivotal role in my art – I take the time to incorporate layers of colour to make the final piece really ‘pop’.

If you have any questions or would like to request a commission, please read the commissions page, and get in touch via the contact page. I am always happy to chat through ideas, with no obligation to go ahead with a booking.

I accept commissions from all over the UK and I can ensure each piece of work arrives to its new home safely.

I look forward to hearing from you, and I hope to have the opportunity to create some beautiful artwork for you, your family or friends.
